How do I know the right size to order ?

How do I know which uniform items are for my child’s year group and gender ?

Our website has filters by Year Group & then Gender that you can select to see just the products that relate to your child’s year group & gender.

How do I know which uniform items are compulsory and which are optional ?

Please contact your school who will be able to provide you with a set of uniform regulations (you may be able to find these on your school’s website).

Do you supply name labels ? 

We do not supply name tags. There are several on-line suppliers who can supply this type of product to you.

How do I pay for my order ?

When you have selected all the items you wish to purchase and added them to your shopping cart, click on the Checkout button, complete the address details requested, accept our T&C’s, confirm your order and you will be taken to our payments page. Please then enter the payment details requested. We accept all major debit & credit cards.

Are my payment details kept securely ?

When you enter debit/credit card information on the School Colours Direct website we use secure servers to ensure that all details are encrypted at your browser before they are sent to us. We store debit/credit card details in an encrypted way within a secure database. The servers are physically secured in a dedicated data centre.

Can I order by phone ?

We do not accept telephone orders. Orders can only be placed online.

What are your delivery charges ?

Can I change my order ?

You cannot change an order once it has been placed.  You will have to place a new order and return any items no longer required for a refund – click on the Returns tab for more info.

How do I know if my order has been despatched ?

We will e-mail you to advise you of this.

If your school offers a free delivery service to their school and you opted for this service you will normally receive your order in the next delivery to your school.

For deliveries to your home address you will normally receive your goods within 7 working days from receipt of your order for UK deliveries. Overseas delivery times are dependant on destination but should be delivered within 14 days. Please allow a few days extra in the busy summer months.        

Stock shortages do occur from time to time and if this affects an item on your order please be assured we will be giving a high priority to replenishing the appropriate stock and getting the item despatched to you. However you can cancel the order and you will be given a full refund, please contact our customer service team (click on the Contact us tab) and they will deal with this for you.   

What do I do if my items haven’t arrived ?

If you have not received your items within the timescales specified please contact our customer service team (click on the Contact us tab) and they will deal with this for you.   

Can I return items to be exchanged for others ?

We do not operate an exchange service but items may be returned to us for a refund – please click on the Returns tab for more info. Any replacements required must be ordered & paid for on a new order.

How long will my refund take ?

All refunds are made back to the card originally used to make the purchase usually within 14 days of receipt of your returned goods in the condition required – please click on the returns tab for this info.

What do I do if I receive wrong or faulty items ?

What if I want to order a garment in a size not offered online ?   


We may be able to supply this as a special make. A special make item will cost up to 50% more because we will incur small quantity manufacturing costs and pattern making costs. A special make item will take 8-12 weeks to deliver. Your order for a special make, once placed, cannot be cancelled and the garment cannot be returned for a refund (unless faulty).

Why do you add VAT to some items & not others ?

For items below a certain size where the item is obviously for a child then HMRC rules state that VAT is not applicable.

If you haven’t got a debit or credit card please contact your school’s reception.
